The Town of Southwest Ranches Fire Board on a unanimous roll-call vote approved the fiscal year 2024 IRS Form 990 and recorded a public disclosure about how the return was filed.
Chair Bright Cruz told attendees that the board had been unable to reach its usual outside preparer and that Konabo Holdings LLC — whose principal the chair identified as Emil Lopez — filed the town’s Form 990 at no cost so the filing could be completed on time. The chair said the town intends to solicit and hire a new firm for future filings.
Board members asked no follow-up questions and there was no public comment on the item before the board called the role and recorded five yes votes to approve the filing. The board did not report any fee paid for the service.
The board’s action was procedural: formal acceptance of the FY2024 Form 990 and a transparency disclosure to the public about the temporary filing arrangement. The board said it will search for a regular service provider going forward.
