Redevelopment authority presents blighted-property list; 30‑day review period begins

Aaron Snippert of the Redevelopment Authority presented two memoranda explaining a clarification under the urban redevelopment law (section 12.1) and submitted a list of properties the authority intends to proceed with under the statute. Snippert said the law requires the authority to transmit identification of blighted properties to the planning commission at least 30 days prior to any acquisition and that the commission may provide recommendations about appropriate reuse consistent with the comprehensive plan.
Snippert asked commissioners to review the list and transmit any objections within 30 days; if the commission does not certify that a proposed reuse is inconsistent with the comprehensive plan, the authority will proceed under section 12.1. Commissioners asked for links, updated photos and fuller property details to be placed in the department Dropbox so they can complete their review within the statutory timeframe.
