Commission approves Grover Cleveland Elementary expansion and new parent drop-off drive

The Erie Planning Commission approved final land development plans for Grover Cleveland Elementary School, which include a new gymnasium addition to the east of the building, four new classrooms, expansion of parking and a new parent drive from 36th to 38th Streets intended to relieve drop-off and dismissal congestion.
John Finn of HHSDR presented the final plans and told commissioners the design has not changed since preliminary approval and that recent bids came back favorably. Finn said the team coordinated stormwater management design with city engineers and is awaiting an MPDS permit from the conservation district; the applicant must also record an O&M agreement and related documents prior to construction. Cooper Moore, assistant planner and secretary, said reviews are complete and only a few administrative signatures remain.
A commissioner moved for final approval; the motion was seconded and the commission approved the land development. Staff noted required permits and recording of documents will be completed before construction begins.
