The Oakdale City Council on Jan. 27 approved a site plan amendment that will expand the city hall and police department campus at 1584 Hadley Avenue North.
City staff described the project as an expansion of the existing ~17,000-square-foot building by roughly 27,000 square feet to create a combined facility of about 44,000 square feet. The proposal adds a new public entrance off 15th Street with 49 public parking spaces, retains two existing Hadley access points (one to remain gated for staff and police vehicles), and includes stormwater features, new pedestrian connections, and exterior materials that meet the zoning code’s requirements.
Luke (Community Development staff) summarized site and design details and noted the Planning Commission recommended approval. Staff flagged four conditions for approval in Resolution 2026-07: provide additional rooftop-screening details for utilities; add a roof to the external trash enclosure; obtain city-engineer approval of the site civil construction plans; and obtain permits/approvals from the watershed district for stormwater provisions.
Council moved, seconded and adopted the resolution with the four staff conditions. Staff noted the project includes tree removals with planned replacements (staff said 64 trees would be removed and new landscaping installed as part of the plan). The action moves the site plan forward to final civil review and permitting.
