Region 15 official reports $369,748 in 2025 grant receipts, updates on pier and housing projects

Nathan Held of the Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission updated Perry County Commissioners on regional projects and grant activity dating from 2015 through 2025, saying Region 15 helped bring in more than $25 million in grant funding for the county over that period.
Held reported $369,748 in grant funds actually received in 2025, including EDA planning and INDOT planning grants that support local project development and traffic counts. He said the Tell City owner-occupied rehabilitation program (about $350,000) provides assistance for eligible low-to-moderate-income homeowners for roof repair, HVAC, accessibility and electrical work and that applications are being processed with referrals initially handled by the mayor's office.
Held said final design work for the Tell City pier remains ongoing and that bidding is expected later in the summer, and that other federal projects such as the RAISE rail improvements and an EPA brownfields assessment remain active. He also noted Region 15 provides traffic-counting services and labor-standards compliance support for local projects.
Commissioners thanked Held; he said Region 15 will continue to assist with applications (including an upcoming Office of Community and Rural Affairs water-improvement round) and to answer questions from county staff.
Next steps: Region 15 will continue grant support and expects to put the pier project to bid later in the summer.
