Perry County board approves multiple grant applications and flags statewide funding cut

The board then addressed grant work tied to the program year described in the meeting. The chair said staff are closing out the "25" grants and preparing audit materials due April 30 and that the annual report for the 2025 year is due March 31; board members were asked what additional metrics they want included on that report, such as people served, completion and employment rates, and reasons for termination.
The central agenda business was the "27" grant applications. The chair requested approval to submit the community corrections grant and associated budget; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with all present recorded as in favor. The chair also sought approval for a substance-abuse court grant (budget included) and for the "27" collaboration plan; both were approved by voice vote.
On funding outlook, the chair told the board that statewide funding for the program has been reduced from $65 million to $52.9 million and that further cuts are anticipated. The chair said it is unclear how cuts will be allocated among counties or programs and pledged to share updates with the board once state guidance is available.
Finally, the chair described a separate grant opportunity from the Indiana Office of Court Service to support the drug court program. The chair said the county requested about $9,000 for drug testing, training and supplies; the board approved submission of that grant by voice vote.
The chair also noted that required operational counts were reported as of Feb. 26 and confirmed the next meeting is scheduled for June 2. The meeting adjourned without further formal actions recorded.
