Blacksburg Planning Commission approves consent agenda, schedules April 7 hearings for Ordinance 2085 and Special Exception 26-1

The Blacksburg Planning Commission approved its consent agenda at a brief regular meeting, accepting the minutes of Feb. 3, 2026, and the commission’s 2025 annual report. The commission also scheduled public hearings on April 7, 2026, for Ordinance 2085 and for Special Exception 26-1.

The chair announced the agenda and described public-comment rules. A commission member moved to approve the consent agenda and a second was received; during the vote three members vocalized “I” and the chair said there were none opposed, after which the consent agenda was declared approved.

During unfinished business, commissioners reported that the zoning ordinance review committee had not met and that the Historic/Design Review Board had nothing to report. A commission member updated the body on the Montgomery County Planning Commission’s Feb. 11 meeting and work session, saying the county plans to consider a short-term rental request on Harding Road near Windsor Hills, proposed changes to a special-use/master plan (including storage and property-management uses near a local commercial area described as the "bug shop"), and that a final draft of the county comprehensive plan had been circulated to the planning commission and board of supervisors for last-minute comments. That member said the county aims to present the draft to citizens and finish work by the end of the fiscal year in June.

The chair asked for additional items from commissioners; none were offered. The chair then asked staff (identified in the meeting as Andrew) for a report, none was given, and the meeting was adjourned.

The meeting record showed no members of the public in attendance and no public hearings were held at this session.
