The Ambridge Area School District board approved several agenda items that will affect operations and facilities in the coming year.
On legislative action, the board voted to adopt two memoranda of understanding implementing a four-day workweek for the summer of 2025 with the Ambridge Education Support Professional Association (ESPAPSEA/NEA) and Local 248 (school employees), as presented. "I'd like to move for the adoption of items one and two as presented," a board member said before the motion carried on a roll call vote with affirmative responses recorded from members in attendance.
Under personnel, the board approved multiple hires and personnel actions pending clearances, including ABC Transit drivers, a Family and Medical Leave Act request for employee #3137 beginning March 17, 2025 (up to 60 days), several resignations, and coaching appointments for 2024–25 and 2025–26. The board also retroactively approved placement of a substitute cafeteria food-service assistant. The motion for personnel items one through eight was moved, seconded and carried by roll call.
Facilities work moved forward: the board retroactively approved a low bid from Rayberg Applying Service Inc. to purchase and install a replacement boiler at State Street Elementary for $15,231 (low bid), and accepted a plan to solicit or accept a 2023 bid proposal from Triangle Roofing for the third phase of the middle-school roof replacement at approximately $1.5 million, pending solicitor review and budget treatment. Board discussion covered sequencing (tree removal before roof work), timing outside school hours, and whether payments will be budgeted from general or capital funds.
Other routine business approved included payment of monthly district bills (about $2.9 million) and personnel salaries ($1.3 million), cafeteria bills and personnel, adoption of the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit operating budget (2025–26), approval of a photography vendor pending solicitor review, and several repository property sale approvals and tax‑exoneration motions.
Votes were recorded on the meeting minutes for the MOU items, personnel bundle, and boiler approval; roll-call tallies were entered into the record as affirmative for the members present.
