Public-safety officials briefed the board on both regional monitoring and local incident trends.
Sergeant Kirby told trustees that the department has been monitoring alerts from Illinois fusion centers, Chicago Police Department, the FBI and Homeland Security related to military activity in Iran but that "at current time, we are not tracking any specific threats in the northeastern Illinois area." He urged residents to report suspicious activity to 911 and said police will take an "aggressive patrol posture" in business areas at night because of overnight burglaries at gaming establishments, vape stores and convenience stores.
Brandon Rhodess, filling in for Chief Krueger from the Lincolnshire/Riverwoods Fire Department, provided call-volume statistics for 2025: "We ran just over 4,000 calls as a department whole... 496 of those came in Riverwoods in the district of Riverwoods," and station 52 (Riverwoods station) ran 666 calls for the year. He said year-to-date through January–February the department had 550 calls total and 78 in Riverwoods; station 52 had 109 calls year-to-date.
Trustees thanked the officers and asked how safety communications would be shared with residents; the fire department said it planned to use department social media and coordinate with the village website and newsletter to post monthly safety tips and a brief recap of department activity.
