Parent groups report fundraising gains, new student supports and scholarships

Representatives from the PWA PTO and Friends of the Fine Arts updated the Pewaukee School District board July 21 on fundraising totals, volunteer engagement and programs they funded across the district.
Stephanie Fryoth, representing the PTO, said the group raised just over $78,000 in 2024–25 and distributed nearly $98,000 back to schools through annual allocations and two teacher‑grant cycles. Fryoth said about 190 volunteers participated in PTO events and described flagship projects supported by the PTO, including the Asa Clark Wellness Center and the Horizon Hammock Garden.
Fryoth outlined revenue mix and recent event performance: the PTO’s fall fundraiser brought in roughly $57,000 (down about 25% year‑over‑year), bingo raised about $3,600, and corporate matches generated roughly $2,200. She said the PTO plans to expand signature events and increase outreach to boost corporate sponsorships and family participation.
Friends of the Fine Arts president Nikki Lner and treasurer Melissa Bars reported about $21,000 raised—up 33% from the prior year—with revenues derived from concessions, advertising and small fundraisers. FOA allocated funds to band, choir and drama, sponsored three $1,500 scholarships for seniors and supported two students attending the WSMA honors program (approximately $600 each).
Both groups said they are expanding outreach and volunteer recruitment, and FOA noted near‑full funding from the Kiwanis Club to install and maintain a permanent “standing ovations” display honoring student arts achievements.
Board members thanked the volunteers and donors; administrators noted a new district communication platform that may help parent groups recruit and coordinate volunteers. The presentations concluded with an invitation for the groups to return in early fall with program updates.
