The board finalized approvals for baseball and softball projects and authorized additional infrastructure for field technology and lighting, a district staff member said.
"We finalized the final pieces that needed to be approved by the board for our baseball and softball projects," the staff member said, describing work already underway: turf prep, wireless scoreboards and upgraded Musco lighting that staff said will provide "ball tracking" lighting to illuminate the underside of a ball in flight. The staff member estimated savings of about $80,000 after negotiating stronger bid pricing.
The staff member also praised Carlos from the transportation department, saying the bus barn has the district's highest safety ratings and is passing inspections. The district will add cameras and improve internet capability at the fields to support streaming and announcing.
Details on contract vendors, installation timelines, and formal vote tallies were not included in the update; staff said the district hopes fields will be ready by the following fall season (February–March timeframe referenced).
