At its Feb. 25 meeting the Mobile County Commission approved several consent and contract items, including a major grant amendment and a bid award for shoreline restoration.
The board approved an amendment with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation in the amount of $15,700,000 for the Salt Air Shoreline Restoration project. The commission also awarded the Salt Air Shoreline Restoration contract to Viking Dredge, accepting base and alternate bids and authorizing execution of contract documents. The transcript records the base bid and two alternates and reports a total low bid in the transcript as approximately $7.48 million; the numeric figure in the transcript is truncated and the precise total contract amount should be confirmed with county procurement documents.
Other items approved on the consent agenda included appropriations and sponsorship agreements for local cultural and educational programs; a change order decreasing a government-plaza HVAC contract by $20,260 (new contract $316,960); a contract amendment to add construction engineering and inspection services to a sewer upgrade project; utility easement and final-plat approvals; and renewal of several software and maintenance agreements for county offices including the sheriff’s office.
The commission also adopted a resolution declaring a parcel of county real property (3820 St. Louis Loop North) surplus and authorized its sale at a fair market value noted in the transcript at $73,000 plus closing costs. For several agenda items the transcript records motions and seconds but does not include roll-call vote tallies; minutes or procurement files should be consulted for formal vote records and precise contract sums.
The meeting concluded with announcements about Bayfront Park construction and a short session of the Mobile County Indigent Care Board.
