The Albert Lea Public School District board opened its meeting with a series of recognitions and student presentations.
Multiple staff members received employee-of-the-month and other recognitions. Highlights included Barb (recognized for administrative support at Halverson), Kelly Callas (student services administrative assistant, noted for special-education support), and Erin Guston (transitions and work-based-learning teacher), whose program benefited from a multi-year state grant that funded a wheelchair-accessible van and the in-progress construction of a commercial kitchen and laundry appliances to support vocational training for 18–21-year-old learners.
Crystal Victor, FFA adviser, presented with student leaders (Mason, chapter president; Anderson, treasurer) and reported on student participation in county and Minnesota State Fair events, attendance at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, record Greenhand Day participation (over 20 new members), and fruit-sale fundraising activity (figures presented verbally during the meeting). Board members and attendees applauded the students and staff for their contributions.
The recognitions and student presentations set a celebratory tone at the start of the meeting and highlighted hands-on and career-readiness programming supported by district staff and community partnerships.
