The Wells Select Board completed a series of routine but consequential actions at its March 3 meeting, approving seasonal fees, contracts, financial warrants and several committee appointments.
Key outcomes recorded during the meeting include:
- Boat-launch season passes: The board set a season pass at $100 for residents and $200 for non-residents. The motion passed during the public hearing for boat-launch fees.
- Conservation land acceptance: The board voted to accept 14.8 acres of conservation land in exchange for a right-of-way release and easement relocation.
- Emergency facility repair: The board authorized up to $5,000 from the emergency facility repair fund for a heater repair at the Wells Public Safety Building.
- Street Scan USA contract: The board approved a three-year agreement with Street Scan USA Inc. to scan roads and related assets (sidewalk ramps, signs, catch basins, street trees) and produce pavement-condition indices; total contract cost for three years is $55,000 to be paid from the paving CIP.
- Warrants and donations: The board signed accounts-payable and payroll warrants as presented, and accepted multiple donations earmarked for the Special Assistance Fund and the Founders Park Community Center.
- Appointments: After executive session the board appointed Trisha Hlett as the Democrat alternate on the Voter Registration Appeals Board, Michelle Stilletta Noble for a Conservation Commission term renewal, and Charles Brown for a shellfish-conservation commission renewal.
Several other routine administrative items were also approved, including license renewals, minutes for February 3 and February 17, and a tax-abatement request as presented by the finance director.
Next steps: Staff will execute the approved Street Scan agreement, process the conservation-land acceptance paperwork and right-of-way easement changes, and post public updates about the sewer repair monitoring noted in the manager’s report.
