Board discusses Brooklyn field maintenance as Glenville University work begins at GSU stadium

JT (district staff) said GSU is tearing out the home side and press box as part of a phased renovation but indicated there should still be enough seating and a field surface to host Gilmer County High School games this fall. He said if plans change the district would be notified and the board would be updated.
Chapman and district staff also reviewed ongoing maintenance at Brooklyn (the middle‑school baseball/practice field): they have added sand, repaired drainage, painted and added internet to enable game‑film review, and discussed installing fencing to stop balls from going into the river behind first base. Board members raised potential low‑cost upgrades — a play clock, additional lights for night practice, and restroom access solutions (using the fieldhouse facilities but making public access clearer) — and asked maintenance staff to provide cost estimates for further discussion.
There was no formal vote; the discussion was recorded for future agenda follow-up if the district chooses to invest in infrastructure at Brooklyn to support more home events.
