Staff introduced Alexis Kaiser as the City of West Columbia's new assistant city administrator of development. The staff introduction said Kaiser received both undergraduate and master's degrees in public administration from the University of South Carolina and joins West Columbia from the City of Goose Creek, where she served as assistant to the city administrator and special projects manager. Kaiser said she grew up in the Midlands and is "excited to be here and get to work with you all." Council members welcomed her.
Chief Boyce then presented Officer Meyers as the department's Officer of the Quarter, noting he serves as the school resource officer at East Point Academy Elementary School. Chief Boyce read a parent's email praising Meyers for creating a "positive, reassuring environment" and connecting with students; an anonymous donor provided a $100 gift card to be presented to the officer.
Council applauded both introductions and recognitions.
