On second reading council unanimously approved establishing restricted commercial (C3) zoning for a one-acre parcel at 3214 Leeart Road (tax map 004597-08-037). A council member moved the motion, it was seconded, and the council approved it by raised hands.
Earlier in the meeting staff member Skyer presented proposed text amendments to the city's zoning ordinance to reintroduce finance and insurance services and pet care services as permitted uses in the restricted commercial (C3) district. Skyer said these uses were previously allowed before a transition to a new code and that the Planning Commission will consider the amendments at its March 23 meeting; the commission's recommendation will return to council for first reading.
Council did not vote on the text amendments at this meeting; staff indicated the items will be presented to Planning Commission and then returned to council for formal consideration.
