On March 9 the board voted on several consent and action items covering professional development, facilities and finance.
Professional development and travel: The board approved requests to spend Title carryover funds on SCOP training for English learners, multi-day Kagan cooperative-learning sessions, AVID summer institute attendance, and a district group trip to the Ron Clark Academy. A motion to approve out-of-state travel for certain professional-development trips was moved by Miss Miles and seconded by Miss Batista and passed unanimously.
Facilities and capital outlay: The board approved a gas-line replacement to the admin/high-school culinary building and accepted a quote for fieldhouse interior/exterior repairs and painting, both to be funded from public-school capital-outlay. The board also approved a three-year internet contract (preserving e-rate alignment) and unanimously approved a $45,000 fire-alarm installation to bring an older building into code compliance using safety/security capital-outlay funds.
Finance and personnel actions: The board approved February bills and payroll and approved budget adjustments. The board acknowledged resignations from several staff members effective at the end of the school year, including a longtime teacher retiring after decades of service. All recorded motions during the meeting passed by voice vote with no recorded dissent.
