RISD reports higher campus ratings, gains on STAAR and improved teacher retention

Tab, RISD leader (identified in the transcript only by first name), said the district’s accountability results show that 'A' rated campuses rose from 8 in 2024 to 11 in 2025 and that all high schools received either an 'A' or a 'B' rating. He reported that students met or exceeded state performance levels in most STAAR test areas and that the Class of 2024 saw a jump in College, Career and Military Readiness from 79% to 95%.
Tab also highlighted operational improvements: the district received an overall rating of 79.4 and teacher turnover decreased to 11.5% from 13.7% the prior year. He said campus leaders are identifying focused improvement areas including junior high mathematics performance, Extended Constructed Response tasks, achievement gaps for economically disadvantaged students, Special Education performance and high school graduation rates.
Tab thanked teachers for their work and noted that staff participated in summer professional learning to prepare for the school year. He also acknowledged community partners who helped distribute free school supplies to more than 7,500 students at 23 campuses.
