The mayor said volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 8, the Villa Park Community Service Foundation and the Rotary Club spent hours decorating the city last Saturday and that the Villa Park Woman's League painted or decorated several patriotic fire hydrants. “Huge thanks to boy scout troop 8 50, Villa Park Community Service Foundation, and the Rotary Club,” Mayor Wu said.
The event “will include lots of exhibitors, demos, and speaker series,” Mayor Wu added, and the Red Cross will conduct a blood drive at the same time. Participants may walk, jog or “spring,” the mayor said, and families are encouraged to attend. Mayor Wu reminded listeners the event is five days away and asked residents to register at vpcsfoundation.org.
Mayor Wu warned that several city streets will be closed for the 5K and advised residents to consult the event page for details. No additional funding or permitting details were announced at the meeting.
The mayor closed by reiterating the call to attend on Saturday morning.
