Mercer County approves zoning changes, gravel permits and highway equipment purchases
Summary
The commission unanimously approved three zoning cases, two temporary use permits for Fisher Sand & Gravel, the County Nurse quarterly report, sheriff revenue receipt, multiple highway equipment purchases and a bid award for Cabin Site #2. Several routine procurement motions and bill approvals were also carried.
The Mercer County Commission on April 15 approved multiple zoning and land-use items, accepted departmental reports and authorized several highway equipment purchases and a bid award.
Tax Director and Land Use Administrator Jennifer Neumiller presented and the commission approved three zoning cases: Zoning Case 26-03-01 (Chris Santos) to rezone Parcel 2A from Agricultural to Commercial; Zoning Case 26-04-01 (Warren & Jodie Woroniecki) for a non-farm residence on Parcel 1 in SE4 of SE4 Section 20 T141N R89W; and Zoning Case 26-04-02 (Kris & Nicole Martens) for a non-farm residence in Section 28 T145N R87W. Each motion was moved by Commissioner Casey Voigt and seconded by Commissioner Jamee Folk and carried by unanimous vote.
The commission also approved Temporary Use Permits #671 and #672 for Fisher Sand & Gravel to operate gravel pits on two sections (20 acres each). Mike Eslinger provided a subcommittee update, and commissioners approved the County Nurse Quarterly Report.
Assistant Highway Superintendent Dennis Olheiser presented annual bid recommendations and specific equipment purchase requests. The commission approved the annual bid recommendations and Utility Permit #1777 (26). Approved purchases included a 2022 International LT625 semi-truck for $55,000; a 2018 belly dump for $42,900; a 2011 XL lowboy trailer for $25,000; one mulcher at $45,000 (an amendment reduced the request from two mulchers to one); and a packer for $25,000. Moore Engineer Tom Weigel presented the Bid Notice of Award for Cabin Site #2 Special Assessment District SI 2026-4002; Bechtold Paving, Inc. was the lowest of five bidders and the commission approved the award.
Commissioners approved the Sheriff’s March revenues of $57,473.94 and later approved county bills totaling $429,946.62. All listed motions in the minutes carried by unanimous vote.
