The Scott County Advisory Plan Commission voted March 11 to recommend that the county commissioners rezone seven parcels on Alexander Street in the town of Lexington from Agricultural (A) to Residential R-1.
The applicant, listed as KGF Building LLC and ABC Land LLC, told the commission the development plan envisions single-family homes roughly 1,100 to 1,500 square feet in size, with estimated prices of about $200,000 to $220,000. The applicant said most houses would be built on slabs and a some would include basements.
Two residents, Chris Faris and Kathy Stewart, spoke in opposition during public comment. Joe Gibson, identified as a regional sewer member since 1988, spoke in favor and addressed sewer considerations. The applicant answered questions from commissioners about the project during the hearing.
John Howser moved to forward a favorable recommendation to the Scott County Board of Commissioners; Jonathan White seconded. The commission vote recorded the following yes votes: Gary Green, John Howser, Jonathan White, Matt Oberlies, J.R. Ward, Andrew Boswell, Clint James and Mark Gardner. The motion carried and the recommendation will be placed before the Board of Commissioners for final action.
Next steps: the rezoning recommendation will be considered by the Scott County Board of Commissioners at a later meeting; the commission did not set conditions beyond the applicant’s stated plans.
