The Sarpy County Cities Wastewater Agency board approved a growth‑management exception on April 22 to allow a standalone septic system for a secondary outbuilding at 8103 Fairview Road.
Jeff Thompson, the agency’s project engineer, presented the application from the City of Pilion and said the property is an existing residential‑estates lot east of 84th Street. Thompson said applicants described the structure as an outbuilding or secondary‑use building—not a residence—but because the owners want a standalone septic system to serve a restroom in that structure, the agency’s growth‑management plan requires board approval.
During brief discussion a board member asked whether the proposed structure was a "barndominium"; Thompson said the building permit materials were not provided to the agency and the application was presented as a nonresidential outbuilding. The board voted to approve the exception following a motion by Grant and a second by Springfield; the vote was recorded as 5–0.
Thompson noted the site is a considerable distance from the recently constructed line (he cited the prior line’s western limit near 72nd Street), and board members asked about proximity to nearby ball fields and residences; Thompson said the new structure would be roughly a mile from that constructed segment and is sited on a platted lot.
The board’s action was recorded as passed; staff did not state any additional conditions attached to the exception during the meeting.
