Natrona County Library reports 1,400+ seed packets distributed; plans pizza party for literacy grant

Executive Director Lisa Scroggins reported at the April 8 Natrona County Library Board meeting that the library’s newly launched seed library has distributed more than 1,400 seed packets to more than 250 individuals, drawing strong community interest and tying into Big Read programming.
Scroggins told trustees the library will host a community pizza party to celebrate a Pizza Hut Foundation Slice of Literacy Grant. Local Pizza Hut restaurants are donating pizza and coordinating desserts; PepsiCo will provide beverages. Staff are coordinating logistics with community partners.
Scroggins also noted staff training is scheduled for May 1 and will include a re-entry simulation designed to build staff awareness and strengthen service to individuals transitioning back into the community. The simulation is part of professional development rather than a program for patrons.
The board did not change grant terms or vote on program funding at the meeting; the report was informational. The library will continue to coordinate partners and logistics for the community event.
