Administrators report improved attendance and discipline, outline construction phase 3 planning and program updates

An administrator reported kindergarten screening results (15 children who did not attend UPK) and said about 45 students were invited from MJT to join the summer academy. The administrator provided comparative attendance data: as of day 146 there were 322 fewer absences this year compared with the same point last year and 696 fewer than two years ago. Discipline referrals fell from 225 in 2022–23 to 114 in 2024–25 through the same number of days; the current year stood at 111 through the same reporting point, the administrator said.
On construction, administrators said phase 2 work is underway (back staff parking, drainage, base layers and paving anticipated) and that the bus garage and boiler work are active. The district said there is no concrete phase 3 plan yet beyond a ‘wish list’ the administration has compiled; administrators emphasized that if turf or other additions were proposed they would be publicly discussed and — if not part of the current approved project — would require community approval via a vote. ‘‘We are not hiding turf anywhere. We’re not discussing turf privately,’’ a district speaker said, adding that any turf decision would be taken to the community for a vote.
Administrators also said the district signed a contract with a financial consultant (identified in the meeting as Dr. Tims) and continues hiring for a small number of open positions; the GED program was discussed and administrators said the district is committed to restoring options and is exploring funding and staffing to continue offering GED-related services.
