Charles Mix County approves health insurance renewal and routine bills; auditor reports ballots arrival and courthouse roof leak

At its April 28 meeting the Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners approved the renewal of employee health insurance and other employee benefits and approved the bills presented for payment.
Commissioner Nick Stotz moved and Vice Chairman Kory Standy seconded to accept the renewal of employee health insurance and other benefits; the motion was approved unanimously. Earlier in the meeting the board also moved to approve the bills for April 28, 2026; the clerk's report lists a grand total of $49,174.13 in claims across county departments.
Auditor Jason Gant briefed commissioners on county sales tax and owner-occupied taxes, said Primary Election ballots arrived on April 24, reported that the courthouse roof is leaking, announced an employee appreciation lunch scheduled for June 25, and noted that commission minutes from 1895 to the present are available on the county website.
No budget amendments or new appropriations were recorded in the minutes at the April 28 session.
