Beatrice board approves personnel moves and food-service bids

The Beatrice Public Schools Board of Education approved multiple personnel and procurement items at its May 11 meeting, including annual contracts for speech-language pathologists, the hiring of Melissa Kroll as Beatrice High School assistant principal, and award of bread and milk bids for the 2026–27 school year.
A motion to renew contracts for speech-language pathologists Chelsea Yockel, Claire Pfeiffer, Caitlin Pick and Logan Spilker was moved and seconded and carried. Board members noted that Caitlin Pick will replace a departing middle- and high-school speech pathologist.
The board then approved the hiring of Melissa Kroll as assistant principal at Beatrice High School for 2026–27. Superintendent Jason Alexander said Kroll has spent 19 years at Beatrice High School as a health and physical education teacher, coach and mentor, and holds a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
"She's been a coach, mentor and a leader in Beatrice High School for many years, and we're excited to have her step into the assistant principal role," Jason Alexander said.
On procurement, the board approved a single bread bid from Panagold Baking Company — the only bid submitted for the district — and awarded the milk bid to DFA Kemps Le Mars after receiving two bids; board members said the vendors offered the lowest acceptable prices. All motions were moved, seconded and approved.
The approvals were routine business for the district calendar and staffing ahead of the 2026–27 school year.
