- Facilities recommended purchasing two stadium digital display boards from manufacturer Formetco for Apalachee High School and Winder-Barrow High School at a combined cost of $583,258.78, citing competitive proposals through the construction manager and a procurement approach intended to capture a sales-tax advantage. Staff noted the boards include sponsorship and advertising capabilities that could support athletics programming.
- The superintendent recommended consenting to temporary and permanent easements requested by Barrow County for the Matthews School Road sidewalk and associated safety improvements; staff corrected an earlier appraisal letter and said the easement value should be $5,413.60 (previously listed as $4,062). The improvements include pedestrian signage, crosswalks, stop bars and lighting near school entrances; county engineers will draft easement documents for legal review.
Board discussion focused on timing, safety benefits for students, and procurement mechanics. Staff asked that the bus surplus and easement be included on the May 5 consent agenda for action.
