During its Feb. 19 meeting the Seymour City Council approved multiple routine actions by voice vote.
The council adopted a proclamation recognizing April as Fair Housing Month, reaffirming the city's support for federal and state fair housing laws and urging outreach to prevent housing discrimination. Mayor Mark McCord read the proclamation and signed it on the date of the meeting.
The council also approved Ordinance 2026-01 to cancel the May 2025 general election because candidates for local offices were unopposed; staff noted the school and hospital elections were likewise uncontested and that no local election will occur on May 2, 2025.
On personnel matters the council approved a one-time $1,000 salary supplement for the city secretary in recognition of additional duties performed to complete the 2026 audit and related work.
Earlier in the meeting the council moved OCSC model resolution 1600 from the consent agenda into action items and approved it; council members then took action following executive session to proceed with the real-estate exchange/lease/value discussed in closed session.
