Team San Jose highlighted a newly negotiated citywide master hotel contract designed to simplify contracting for groups that need multiple hotels; sales staff said the agreement is unique among U.S. cities and reduces negotiation friction for multi‑property events.
Councilmembers praised the results and asked staff to provide post‑event ROI analyses and audits that compare contracted room blocks and future bookings with actual consumed room nights. Staff said audits are underway (examples cited: Nvidia and Open Compute Project) to true up contracted blocks versus rooms consumed.
Public safety and operations: presenters credited interagency coordination and event activations (concerts, fan zones, drone shows, projection mapping) with high foot traffic and few serious incidents; a comprehensive economic impact report is planned later in the year to quantify city dollars and return on investment.
