Tempe Development Review Commission unanimously approves minutes and consent agenda

The commission then considered its consent agenda, which staff had compiled in a prior study session. Items on the consent agenda included: a use-permit request to allow a detached engineered shade structure in the R16 zoning district for the Wilson‑Schlemmer residence (item 4A); a use-permit request for a private school in the GID zoning district and general‑industrial overlay for Jersey College (item 4B); a use‑permit request to allow a massage establishment for The Unwinding Space in the RO zoning district (item 4C); a request to allow one required parking space in the front-yard building setback for the Huriman residence (item 4D); a general-plan projected land-use and residential-density map amendment from commercial to mixed‑use high, a zoning-map amendment from GIDPAD to MU4PAD, and an amended planning-area development for the Legend City District at Papago (item 5A); and broad zoning and development-code text amendments covering signs, accessory structures, use‑permit standards, general development standards, parking, landscape, lighting, application procedures, and definitions (item 6A).
No members of the public asked to pull any consent items for separate hearing. Commissioner Richter moved to approve the consent agenda in its entirety and Commissioner Forte seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The approvals allow the listed applications and code amendments to proceed through the normal implementation or notification steps specified by staff and the city’s process.
City staff announced the annual boards-and-commissions event at the Tempe History Center on Friday night and noted the commission’s next scheduled meeting on May 12, 2026. The chair then adjourned the meeting.
