Nevada Valley Unified trustees appoint two new principals, confirm votes

The Napa Valley Unified School District board on April 28 announced two principal appointments following closed‑session action.
Trustee Gonzalez reported the board approved staff recommendations for personnel changes effective for the 2026–27 school year, and "on a motion by Trustee Martin and second by Trustee Jenkoix, the board voted unanimously to appoint Troy Holding to the position of principal at Browns Valley TK‑8." The roll call recorded trustees Chu, Gonzalez, Jenkoix, Martin, Riser and Water as voting yes; Trustee Viegas Hart was absent for that vote.
Troy Holding, invited to address the board, said, "My name is Troy Holding and I am so honored to be here tonight as the new principal of Browns Valley TK8 School. This opportunity means a great deal to me ... I believe the role of a principal is to serve students, support staff and build strong partnerships with families in the community." He added he looks forward to "listening and learning and becoming part of this incredible school community." (He spoke after the board announced the appointment.)
The board subsequently moved, seconded and unanimously approved the appointment of Tyler Roberts as principal at Vishy/Vintage TK‑8. Trustees again recorded the motion and vote on the public record and invited Mr. Roberts to the podium. Roberts thanked the board and said he was "excited and honored to become the next principal" and that he looked forward to building relationships with the new school community.
Neither appointment generated further debate in open session. The appointments were recorded as part of the closed‑session personnel report and the new principals addressed trustees and the public immediately after the announcement. The board did not schedule additional formal action on these personnel items in open session; implementation and start dates were given as the 2026–27 school year.
Next steps: The district will include the principal assignments in public personnel listings for the 2026–27 school year and the new principals will begin outreach to their school communities in advance of the next academic year.
