Board approves contractor awards, pay application and insurance changes for Metobrook, Greenbryer and Westmore projects

Separately, the board approved a technology-installation contract with CDW G for the new Metobrook school. Administration explained that bulk purchasing and early ordering reduce cost and improve delivery timing for devices and infrastructure that will be deployed when the building opens.
The board approved pay application number eight for the Metobrook gym contractor, with retainage and expected follow-up invoices before final acceptance. To protect district-owned materials and cover risks not in standard property insurance, the board also approved builder's-risk coverage for the Metobrook project at a one-time premium (recorded in the packet at approximately $58,283).
After discussion of staging and site logistics, the board approved two change orders: a landscaping scope deduct for the completed gym and a landscaping add for Metobrook (shifting that work to avoid redoing surfaces), and an increase in the general-contractor umbrella coverage from $10 million to $25 million for the Metobrook project. Administration explained the umbrella increase is a pass-through cost charged to the project because of on-site traffic, heavy civil work and the fact that portions of construction will take place while buildings remain occupied. Board members asked about timing, whether the cost could have been anticipated at bid and the deductible structure; staff said the other two projects had the $25 million requirement built into their bid packages and that the Metobrook increase was realized later in the process after logistics were finalized.
