On wireless devices, the committee reviewed draft language shaped by recent state legislation prohibiting general cell‑phone use in school and listing exemptions (medical necessity, district‑issued devices, staff discretion). Presenters said the district already uses teacher‑managed 'cubbies' and other classroom strategies to limit device use; further technical policy language will be brought back for action.
Director of Curriculum Margaret Hendendrickson asked the board to extend previously adopted world language series into higher courses (Spanish 3 and French 4) at an estimated combined cost of about $28,000, to be budgeted in next year's instructional budget. The board received the request for discussion; trustees deferred final action pending budget alignment.
