PARIS — Members of the Paris FFA chapter presented a live parliamentary procedure demonstration for the school board and meeting attendees, then conducted chapter business and voted to host a greenhouse fundraiser.
Seven first-year students introduced themselves and ran a short, formal meeting to show how FFA parliamentary events operate. Freshman Braxton Lake introduced himself during the demonstration, and several students filled officer roles in the mock meeting.
After the demonstration, a member (Bryson) moved to host a fundraiser for the chapter. Members debated whether to hold an additional fundraiser alongside an ongoing greenhouse fundraiser and whether summer scheduling would interfere with band camp and other commitments. Several students argued for focusing on an event the community would support and that would provide hands-on experience.
An amendment to insert the word "greenhouse" before "fundraiser" was moved and seconded; members voted to approve the amendment and then approved the main motion as amended to host a greenhouse fundraiser.
What’s next: the chapter will plan the greenhouse fundraiser, with officers and advisors coordinating date and duties.
