Paris schools unveil four-pillar instructional vision, plan KDE professional-development submission

PARIS — District staff on presented an instructional vision designed to guide classroom practice and district decisions across Paris City Schools.
The presenter described four pillars — instructional preparation, evidence-based instructional practice, growth mindset and analyze-and-adjust — and said the materials will include teacher-facing resources, student-friendly “I can” statements and a data dashboard for transparency. The presenter said the work was developed with principals, teacher leaders and representatives from the Kentucky Department of Education and will be expanded through teacher focus groups and summer rollout work.
"Instructional preparation is the key to delivering high quality instruction in all of our classrooms," the presenter said, describing plans to provide time, resources and high-quality instructional resources so teachers can plan units and monitor student learning.
The presenter said the district will use a continuous improvement cycle — plan, do, study, act — and that the data hub will pull together KSA and i-Ready results, walkthrough data and formative classroom measures. Staff said they are building the dashboard in Looker Studio to be accessible to teachers, leaders, parents and community members.
Board members and staff described the vision as a consolidated package of practices already in use rather than a brand-new program. One administrator said the next phase is to develop subject-area exemplars (literacy, math, science) with teachers so the vision translates into consistent classroom expectations across elementary, middle and high school.
The presenter said the district is drafting a professional-development plan grounded in this instructional vision and that plan will be submitted to the Kentucky Department of Education as part of next steps.
What’s next: staff said they will continue focus-group work with teachers, finalize the Looker Studio dashboard, and present a finalized professional-development plan to the board for consideration.
