Members of the Conquered Municipal Affordable Housing Trust voted April 14 to publicly support two Town Meeting articles that trustees said could enable additional housing development.
Trustees debated which articles were most pertinent to affordable housing and proposed that the trust publicly support article 34, which explicitly includes affordable housing provisions in a mixed-use bylaw revision, and article 37, which raises the height limit in a limited business district (potentially enabling housing on that site). Matt Johnson moved that the trust support articles 34 and 37 and report that support to the Select Board and the moderator; the motion was seconded and approved. Carlen Reed, the moderator-elect, noted article 37 sits on the consent calendar but could be removed and then the trust's recorded support would be relevant.
Trustees asked staff to ensure the support is noted with the moderator and considered speaking from the floor if either article is pulled from the consent calendar.
