Parker council certifies May 2 election, swears in two members; Buddy Pilgrim named mayor pro tem

The canvass reading listed vote totals for council and mayoral candidates and declared the top vote-getters: according to the readout the council winners were "Billy Barron" and "Buddy Peddle"; the canvass named Lew Powell as the successful mayoral candidate with 452 votes.
After the canvass, the council administered oaths. One individual who took the oath identified himself in the recorded oath as "Buddy Pilgrim," saying, "I, Buddy Pilgrim, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of city council member…" Another individual taking the oath identified himself as "Billy Baron," reciting the standard oath for city council. The transcript contains inconsistent spellings of the names read during the canvass and those used in the oath text.
Council Member Hubbard moved to approve the canvass resolution; the motion was recorded as seconded by Council Member Sharp. The mayor called the vote and the motion carried 5-0.
The council then considered resolution 2026-895 to nominate and appoint a mayor pro tem. Following nominations, the mayor announced a motion by Council Member Bowen and a second by Council Member Bogdan to nominate Buddy Pilgrim as mayor pro tem. Pilgrim confirmed his willingness to serve and the council approved the appointment by unanimous vote.
The meeting concluded with the mayor thanking candidates and voters and announcing a reception. The meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
