Staff said the cost increase reflects materials and inflation adjustments communicated by TxDOT and that the city’s funding will come from a state infrastructure bank loan arranged through TxDOT. Chris Sharp reviewed project photos and explained the city had previously approved aesthetics upgrades for the 377 project; council was told the approval is necessary to keep the project on schedule for an anticipated October letting if utilities and other tasks are coordinated.
A council member asked whether the schedule could be accelerated; staff said they would work to maintain the timetable. Council approved Resolution 26-24 on a voice vote with five ayes and zero nays; one council member was absent. The resolution updates internal cost estimates and keeps the project moving toward TxDOT’s planned schedule.
