Commission reappoints SARCOA members, tables safety coordinator appointment, approves jail repairs and moves to renew waste contract

On the safety-coordinator vacancy, Sowing said the role coordinates insurance liaison duties, safety training and pre-employment drug testing and that Susan Harris previously held the position. Commissioner Lynne Holmes indicated she had a candidate but would not disclose the name; County Attorney Morgan Arrington advised a motion must identify the person. The Commission voted unanimously to table the appointment until the next meeting; Mrs. Sowell said Kyle Adams will perform coordination duties in the interim.
Jail Administrator Jennifer Hudson requested bathroom and shower repairs in cell blocks A and D at $22,230.94 per block. The Commission approved the proposals and a budget amendment to move contingency funds into the jail budget on a motion by Commissioner Ben Courson, seconded by Commissioner Lynne Holmes (unanimous).
Commissioner Tommy McGaha moved to amend the agenda to renew the contract with Meridian Waste; the amended agenda motion passed by voice vote.
