Exeter Township School Board approves emergency tuition placement, consent agendas and budgets

The Exeter Township School Board on April 21 approved a slate of consent-agenda items and one emergent tuition agreement for a special-education placement.
Tuition agreement: The board approved a tuition agreement between Conradiser School District and Exeter Township School District to provide services for one student for the 2025–26 school year at $3,753 per day, for a total of $9,840.96. The administration said this placement was emergent and therefore not included in the prior committee meeting materials.
Consent agendas and personnel: The board adopted minutes from prior meetings, approved the March 2026 treasurer’s report and payment requests, and approved education committee consent items including field trips beyond a 60-mile radius, curricular licenses, and an early graduation request under district policy 217. Personnel committee items — resignations, appointments, transfers, leaves and substitute staffing — were ratified, with some recently changed items shown in bold on the agenda.
Finance and other approvals: Finance committee items passed included budget transfers and approval of the proposed general fund operating budget for the Burks Career and Technology Center. The board noted an information item about an electric-rate contract should read January 2027–December 2029 (correcting a typographical error). The district will renew participation in the Burks County Safety and Security Consortium for 2026–27 at $6,500; a BCIU transportation agreement for summer 2026 was also approved.
Votes and procedure: Most approvals were handled by voice vote with “all in favor” responses and routine abstentions where disclosed; the board recorded one explicit abstention on a course-request vote due to a conflict. No separate roll-call vote tallies were read into the record for the consent items.
Budget planning note: Board members were reminded that the proposed final budget will be presented in two weeks, and one member urged a straw poll at the May 6 meeting to test support ahead of the May 18 final vote.
