Council authorizes RFPs for water-infrastructure grant administration and engineering

The council authorized issuance of requests for proposals and qualifications needed to apply for the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) water-supply infrastructure grant program.
A GrantWorks representative told the council that the program requires no local match, that applications are due at the end of July, and that awards could take roughly a year to be announced. "The good news is it's free. There's no match component to this," the representative said. He added the statewide program is recurring and large—about a billion dollars per year in program funding—and the TWDB will have categories for large, medium and small cities.
Council moved to authorize staff to solicit services for grant administration and engineering and approved the motion unanimously. Staff will return with procurement documents, and the city will select an administrator to complete the application before the July deadline.
