Horizons Mental Health reports increased service delivery, new veterans navigator and school training

Horizons Mental Health Center CEO Vicki Mater told the Reno County Commission on April 22 that the agency's service delivery in the county has increased by roughly 600 individuals in the past year.
Mater said Horizons has added a veterans navigator who helps veterans access VA and local services, provides transport and appointment support, and that the agency offers free drop-in peer groups called "battle buddies." She also said Horizons recently trained 143 freshmen in the Buhler School District and 31 students at Trinity in mental-health-first-aid techniques, and hopes to start programming at Hutchinson High School in the fall.
Commissioners thanked Horizons for its work and had no substantive questions after the presentation. Mater noted that demand for services remains high and that the agency is working to limit wait times and expand access.
