Board adopts proposed 2026'27 budget for May 19 public vote; outlines contingency options

"If the budget is not approved by the voters, we can resubmit or revise it or move to a contingent budget," the presenter said.
The board approved routine consent items by voice vote earlier in the meeting (minutes, warrants, personnel and business agendas). In a series of additional votes the board also:
- Approved the Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES tentative administrative budget for 2026'27 (stated amount $12,679,000 in the resolution). - Nominated and approved a candidate for the BOCES board (Richard Kreps of Carmel Central School District). - Authorized appointment of election inspectors for the May 19 vote. - Ratified a stipulation of agreement and a stipulation of settlement (both referenced by employee or student number in the minutes).
All motions reported in the minutes were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; numeric tallies were not recorded in the transcript beyond repeated "Aye" responses.
The district will publish the full budget documents, post copies at school buildings and make printed copies available at the public hearing prior to the May 19 vote. Administrators encouraged community members to review materials and to vote on May 19.
