The New Canaan Inland Wetlands Commission conducted its annual organizational business at the start of the April 20 meeting and then handled routine administrative items.
Elections: Commissioners nominated Angela Jameson to continue as chair and Sandy Redden to continue as secretary; both were confirmed in voice/hand votes with Jameson abstaining from the chair vote. The secretary then called roll: present were Angela Jameson, Sandy Renheim/Redden, Don Masterardi, Beth Sanford, Philip Williams, Tom Collingham and Katie Alsley; Beth Brunali, Dan Stuponic and Adam Ramirez were absent.
Applications and site visit: Staff announced application 26‑9 for 266 Michigan Road (demolition of small bridges and a gazebo, tree mitigation and stabilization). The commission scheduled a site visit for May 6 at 7:30 a.m., with the application to be calendared for the May 18 meeting if complete.
Agent's report and website work: The wetlands agent reported three recent permits issued this spring (including pool and residential reconfiguration work) and said inspections are ongoing. Staff also described website enhancements to improve public access: clearer homepage buttons for GIS and permitting, a new FEMA map page, and a plan to remove outdated resources to make the land‑use content easier to navigate.
The commission adjourned after voting on the Waven Park permit and completing the agenda.
