The Trussville City Schools Board of Education unanimously approved its consent agenda and the superintendent’s personnel recommendations at the April regular meeting.
The board heard the monthly financial report for March 2026 from Jim Kirkland, who said all bank accounts had been reconciled and the district’s financial extract had been uploaded to the state with necessary corrections. Ad valorem revenues were reported at 82.28% of budget compared with 86.77% at the same point last year — a shortfall of just over 2 percentage points that Kirkland said staff will monitor going into summer budgeting. Total general‑fund expenditures and transfers were at 43.93% of budget, which Kirkland described as routine for being roughly halfway through the fiscal year.
On the consent agenda the board approved multiple fee sheets for the coming school year, facility‑use requests (including a New York Mets MLB pre‑draft workout request at Hewitt‑Trussville baseball facilities), and several construction change‑order items tied to the C‑wing project (board materials note the net effect includes a deduct plus a few adds such as additional outlets for science labs).
The personnel slate approved included accepted retirements and resignations, leaves of absence, a recommendation for one long‑term substitute, multiple employment recommendations and two coaching hires for the upcoming year. The board voted to adopt the personnel report by voice vote.
The board will make the monthly financial report available for public review following board approval, Kirkland said. The board adjourned routine business to hear other agenda items and presentations.
