Board to consider naming Glenver High baseball field for coach Larry Wood after committee recommendation

The board heard a nomination to name Glenver High School’s baseball field in honor of Larry Wood, who supporters say has coached and taught in the district since 1971.
"In recognition of his extraordinary service, lifelong dedication, and lasting impact on countless students and athletes, I respectfully recommend that the school board approve the name of the Glenver High School baseball field as Larry Woodfield in his honor," Miss Tammy Nukem said, reading the committee report and recounting Wood’s decades of coaching across multiple sports and his 1994 baseball state championship.
Community members who helped recommend the honor—Jason Murray, Jeremy Chromemer, Troy Henderson and Brian Crockett—were in attendance. Board members suggested the naming could be handled on the consent agenda but discussed the value of making it an action item to publicly celebrate the honoree.
Nukem said the nomination followed the division’s naming policy and committee review; board members indicated support and staff said the item would appear as an action or consent item at the next regular meeting for final approval.
