Carol Stream police achieve ILEP Tier 1 accreditation; two officers sworn in

The Village of Carol Stream Board of Trustees on April 6 recognized the Carol Stream Police Department for achieving Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEP) Tier 1 status and administered oaths to two new officers.
Tara Anderson, representing the executive committee of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, told the board that ILEP provides a statewide standard for departments and that the Carol Stream Police Department "achieved ILE's tier 1 accreditation," meeting or exceeding 69 rigorous standards across administration, training, operations and personnel. "Out of hundreds of law enforcement agencies across Illinois, only 42 have achieved tier one accreditation," Anderson said, adding that accreditation "helps reduce risk and liability, enhances professionalism, and builds public trust and confidence." A speaker identified in the meeting as the police chief praised the department's work and singled out the training manager, Stephen Lee, for his role in readying departmental policies and procedures.
