Student reps report arts, athletics and community initiatives; district presents music and athletic awards

Student representatives from Toms River High School East, North and South gave reports highlighting extracurricular achievements, attendance initiatives, and upcoming events during the board’s regular meeting.

High School East student representative Michaela Melanac described community service activities (a military-club care-package campaign), the Class of 2027 pop dance, the school’s Dodgeball tournament scheduled for March 3, a March Madness attendance competition, and named student honorees including senior Bella Marino. High School North’s representative (identified as Alicia) outlined a take-one/leave-one board initiative, a scholarship presentation by Solution Prep, athletics results, and an attendance push; High School South’s Michaela Manzy noted spirit events, club fundraisers, the performing-arts schedule (Into the Woods, performances March 5–7), and several athletic championships and individual milestones.

The meeting’s awards segment recognized students selected for Allshore and South Jersey orchestras (Devon Gupta, Sanvi Gupta, Vicki Parchic, Elizabeth Richardson, Isabella Catillo, among others) and celebrated athletic accomplishments across swim, wrestling, bowling and basketball programs. District staff presenters included teachers and supervisors named during the awards presentations (Brie Bates, Joanne Link, Jen Vazini) and orchestra conductor Katherine Rosselli, who spoke about recent competition honors.

The board applauded student success and encouraged community attendance at upcoming performances and athletic events. The awards and student reports comprised much of the evening’s opening program before the business agenda began.
