Board approves calendar, contracts, donations, and modest fee changes

The MSD Boone Township board, at its Oct. 14 meeting, cleared a package of routine operational items: the 2026–27 school calendar was approved to align with county partners for transportation and career center schedules; the 2025–26 staff performance plan was accepted with no substantive changes other than dates; and recommended starting pay rates for classified staff (classroom aides, custodians and transportation) were approved.

The board accepted several community donations, including a $10,000 gift from Business Professionals of America to fund a BPA scholarship administered through the Hebron Schools Education Foundation, two 32‑inch televisions from Mr. and Mrs. Pete Gladstone for the middle‑school e‑sports team, and a monetary donation from Joseph Kimberly Remer to support the high‑school special‑education food backpack program. Multiple community businesses also donated items for the district’s upcoming haunted‑house fundraiser.

On procurement, the board voted to award a preventive HVAC maintenance contract to Area Sheet Metal for quarterly service at both district buildings. The board also approved disposing of an elementary baby‑grand piano that would be costly to repair.

The board approved a change to the district’s Infinite Campus online payment charges — raising certain percentage fees (previously about 3.7–4% for some payments), increasing the e‑check fixed fee from $0.35 to $0.50, and setting a minimum online payment of $20 — and separately approved a cafeteria update that raises cookie prices from two for $0.60 to one cookie for $1.00 or two cookies for $1.50. The board noted meal prices otherwise remain unchanged.
